So the Christmas counter is officially off... for 10 months at least! Thank you for bearing with me while I came to the reality that Christmas and all of the fun it brings is over for this year.
Santa was not the only one covered in soot this week. Aiden and Chris are infatuated with firemen and all things associated. Needless to say, they love our fireplace and do well understanding that when fires are blazing, it is hot and dangerous. They do fall short however in understanding that a fireplace and sand box are not one in the same. It is amazing how big a mess can be created in the less than 60 seconds it takes Momma to run to the bathroom. Let me tell you.... I had two little boys covered ear to ear, top to bottom in soot. While I really wanted to grab my camera, the mother in me first had to clean up the mess and teach the boys that this can not be repeated (and pray that they listen!) Uggh... fun, well for them at least!
We have had a quiet week. Grammie and Dziadzu came to visit on Monday. The boys missed seeing them over the weekend so we were excited to see them Monday morning. A & C are both totally in love with Dziadzu and everything associated with saying his name. Dziadzu is called all day, everyday. They peek out the window, calling for him and call his name when they are supposed to be sleeping. Lucky Dziadzu! We had a fun visit and loved seeing them and having the company!
Mammie Hopkins came over on Tuesday morning and I headed out to grocery shop and drop off our Christmas cleaning at Goodwill. The boys had a lot of fun playing with Mammie and were sad when it was nap time and she has to go home.
For as silly as it sounds, Tuesday was a bittersweet day for me. I am not a "vehicle type" person but for some reason, every time we get rid of a car it hits me. We donated our truck to charity and Tuesday they came to pick it up. Our cars represent the different life stages we have been through. Seeing the truck go was like goodbye to the memories from the early stages of renovating our first home. On a happier note, it was also goodbye to all of the problems it was and the money pit that it has become... so.. on to bigger and better! We also now have room in our driveway for our plowman to push the snow after the next storm AND we no longer look like the Suffield junk yard. Okay, maybe giving it away wasn't so bad after all :)
Tonight I am excited to meet my friend Leeanne for a night out at the mall. Girl time and shopping therapy is much needed after a long day inside with sicko boys and two more long days ahead! Yee haw, shopping here we come!
