Hard to believe but I had a little preview of summer this afternoon and BOY did it feel good! I was reading some books with A & C on the couch before nap and the sun was shining and HOT… No complaining going on here. I actually wanted to slip into my swimsuit and head outside for a tan but when I asked, Aiden reminded me that I couldn't get a tan. Gotta love it when two year olds are keeping you in line! Oh, those days will be here before we know it and I will be saying that no fan is strong enough.
I was reminded of something very important this week… Things could be worse! I mentioned a few weeks back that I had another infection in my root and it is considered a "failed root canal." So… I was referred to an oral surgeon and went for my consultation on Monday. I was totally thrown for a loop when it was recommended that I get my tooth extracted, bone grafted and get a dental implant. What blew me away and threw me into a scared tizzy thinking I may be heading back to work sooner rather than later was the cost. Uggh… $5,500-$9,000. FOR REAL???? Even when you think you are prepared for the worst case like an ER visit or car accident, they don't come near the cost of ONE tooth! Hard to swallow so I am looking into my options and considering purchasing some lotto tickets. On a happier note, I was reminded that this isn't the worst case scenario as I almost burnt the house down. No joke. I was in the basement doing a load of laundry and had started a pot of water to boil for the boy's lunch (they were napping). I thought I heard someone crying and it has been about 40 min so it was possible so I headed upstairs. I didn't find anyone awake but rather found a large fire on my stove top. Smart old Mommy pants turned on the front burner instead of the back one and there was a kitchen towel up against the burner that quickly caught on fire. I thank God as I know he was on my side to send me upstairs because had I been even a minute later, I can't imagine where we would be now. It's always bittersweet to have reminders like that. I'm not sure if this is a sign that I need more sleep or maybe a sign that I should get a laundry room upstairs? J Hey, it's a ladies job to try to work all the angles to her advantage!
So enough about me. I am good, alive, healthy and ever so blessed. On to the important little men. A & C are doing great! They are happy, healthy and coming off of their week long party high. They have been enjoying all of their new party goodies and have been busy helping decorate thank you notes. I love having little crafters! Our play date on Monday was cancelled because our friend Mathieu was sick. I think it's time for germ season to end! Mamie was a great help and came over Monday afternoon so that I could head to the oral surgeon to receive my disappointing news. Hummm… one fancy back tooth or the start of a college fund? Decisions! The boys loved their time with Mamie and didn't miss me one bit! Mamie was an even better sport when she returned for more fun on Tuesday morning, allowing me some time out by myself to get some groceries and errands done. I LOVE my Tuesday mornings! Today we were thrilled to play at Calvin's house with the mommies and baby Ashley. It was so nice to see everyone and the kiddos are starting to become more familiar and interested in each other as we have made our time together so regular. As the husbands like to tease and say, it's a Mommy play date. Either way, I'll take it! The boys had a blast checking out all of the new toys and the baby of course and I love having mommy talk. Poor Calvin has a new name as Aiden calls him "chow" for some reason. We'll work on that! I am so lucky to have so many wonderful, supportive friends and look forward to more fun and more get togethers as the week continues! In the meantime, I am of to spend yet more time on the phone looking into my ten million dollar tooth! Really when all is said and done it should be made of diamonds for that cost!
PS –On a side note – it took me 3 hours to get my post posted. Apparently Google decided that my PW shouldn't work any longer. In light of the delay I don't have new pics to share but am working on uploading a birthday video!
