Aiden scoping out the crowd.
Ahh, the return from vacation. The truth, yesterday was not an easy morning. Vacation is over and it is back to reality. I am forcing myself to return to my early morning workout time of 5:30 am but I am realizing that I am old. Very old. The mornings are not only cold but DARK! So hard to get motivated but it feels so good when you're done. I'd say its worth it. I can't believe how quickly the summer has passed. I am not trying to rush the last few days but let's face it, school is in full swing. I can honestly say that I was a bit sad yesterday morning, thinking about the first day of school and realizing that it could be us in ONE year, sending the boys off to preschool......we are all getting old. Very old. Lots of options to consider but in the meantime I am ready to face and enjoy our daily game of twenty million questions.
For example
C: "Mom, are you wearing a sweatshirt?" (And yes, I really am... 58 degrees in the morning!)
Me: "Yes, I am."
C: "Oh, is that your sweatshirt."
Me: "Yes"
C: "Oh, do I have a sweatshirt."
Me: "Yes, you have a few in your closet."
C: "Oh, does Daddy have a sweatshirt?"
Me: "Yes."
C: "Does Dziadzu had a sweatshirt?".....
You get the picture. They will then continue on through everyone they know and are likely to include all if their neighbors, animals and inanimate objects around them. Super cute and I love the curiosity but it gets exhausting. I think Mike and I are both in need of our own adult quiet time once they are finally out for the night. At least I recharge before I pepper him with 100 questions about his day. But..... I wouldn't change it for the world.
Monday was a blast. We got up early to say goodbye to Uncle Danny who returned to Florida. We also visited with Dan's chauffeurs, Grammie and Dziadzu and I think A & C were convinced we were heading back to the beach. Don't we wish.... We were so thankful that the rain held out as we spent the morning at Farm Fest with our friends Caroline, Rob and Mathieu and Caroline's adorable little baby belly (love it!) The little boys were in their glory with all of the animals, trucks and tractors and the big boys were in their glory once they found some shade. The humidity was intense but it was a great morning none the less. After being gone for a weeks vacation, we had a few errands to run then we returned home to get some yard work crossed off of our to-do's. We took a welcomed break to visit with Mamie and Grandpa Hopkins and enjoyed spending the afternoon catching up. The boys showed off and played outside and we even ventured down to the brook behind our house where A & C found plenty to keep themselves occupied. It was a great day and hard to see it end.
Mike and I returned to work yesterday where Mike found himself buried and wishing he was still on the beach. That's life. Chris and Aiden had a great day with Mamie and went for a road trip to the grocery store and Mamies house where they visited with Auntie Sarah. They had a ball and has many stories to tell!
Today we are excited to have Calvin and Ashley come play at our house. I will be spending much of my down time getting packed and organized for my girls weekend away. Did I mention that I am SO excited! 6 girls on the beach celebrating the three decades of our lives withOUT kids. Happy Birthday to US!!! I am going to miss my boys like crazy but I can't wait! Back to Maine I go....
Oh terrific two's... they can rationalize but are so unrational :)
