I am not know to be good at being spontaneous. Mike would be happy to confirm that but this weekend I loosened up and we headed to Boston for a last minute trip. How can you resist a fun night out in Boston with your entire family?
Friday started early for us as Mamie offered to watch Aiden and Chris for the day so that I could head to work early, getting out early and heading to Boston early. What an offer! Mamie and Grandpa were super troopers, making the car ride to Boston with the boys in tow while Mike, Grammie Tag and I were a few hours behind them. We settled into a hotel in Stoughton and the boys wasted no time in checking out the pool. They were water maniacs. All 4 of them! The women were happy watching from the sidelines.
After some exercising in the pool, we dressed up and headed out to dinner…all 16 of us. We turned many heads when people realized that we had two sets of twins and had many inquiring strangers about how we were so blessed. The boys were excited beyond belief to meet their cousins and quickly took a liking. Although dinner began when they were typically going to bed for the day, they were pleasantly well behaved and managed to stay awake giggling in their hotel bed afterward, well after 10 pm. Dinner was delicious, the babies adorable and a night in a hotel was just too fun for two – three year olds! What we weekend!
Just as we expected, the boys were up with the sun (even despite our efforts to pull those amazing, light resistant curtains) and ready to start the day. We enjoyed some delicious food, walks in the park, sunshine and fun times with the ones we love and baby cuddles! I even managed to sneak in a trip to Ikea. Are we lucky or what? Aiden and Chris are in love with the little ladies. They suggested that perhaps we should have our own baby girl and name her Rose as well. When I asked what would happen if we had a baby boy they quickly replied “we would name him Daddy.” So glad they aren’t responsible for any naming choices in our future! We headed home for bed with two boys who were so overtired that they refused to sleep. Fingers crossed that they sleep in tomorrow!
