Tis the season for runny noses, the start of coughs and boxes of tissues in nearly every room. But along with the wonderful germs of the fall is the amazing weather and I must admit that I have been sneaking out as often as I can to enjoy it. The boys have been hard to convince that they should play outside after school lately so I am trying to make it my goal to get out for a walk while they are in school for as long as this amazing weather lasts. I have fallen in love with a few streets in West Hartford and I think I have finally navigated to some “safer” neighborhoods. Growing up in a small town, you like to trust everyone. That is until a little old lady kindly warns you to stay clear of the side streets in the neighborhood you are walking in. Advice appreciated, taken and relocation plan is in motion. I now enjoy the massive mansions of West Hartford and drool over their incredible landscaping, upkeep and ongoing projects. It seems like nearly every house in this neighborhood has some type of service vehicle parked in their driveway DAILY, bettering something for them. I kid you not. Imagine that life!?! It is truly amazing and while I am convinced that even if myself and all my readers and friends pooled every dime together, we still wouldn’t be able to afford a garage in this neighborhood let alone a mansion, its always fun to dream and admire.
This week I was happy to sneak out with my girlfriends for a fun and delicious dinner on Monday night. Always so fun to catch up and get out!
Mamie and Grandpa came for a visit yesterday afternoon. The boys were thrilled to see them as we have been out of our “normal” routine for a few weeks now and I think they are missing their Mamie days and lunches with Grandpa. It was great to visit and see them!
Tomorrow Mike and I are excited to attend the Annie Fisher Montessori open house. I can not wait to get to know Aiden and Chris’s teachers better and I am excited to hear more about the classroom happenings. The boys are excited as it means that Grammie and Dziadzu are coming to put them to bed!
Of note, I should share our funny Christopher story. Aiden’s teacher sent home a newsletter at the end of last week, asking parents to feed their children breakfast at home, as the school has only a limited number of seats for children to eat. Knowing that A & C eat before heading out, I of course verified and asked if they were eating breakfast at school. Aiden quickly replied “no” while Chris said “yes I do, Mommy!” {All excited about it!} Not sure whether I believed the his story or not {given that he had friends named Doggie and Gold Fish at school that are “real boys”}, I asked what he had to eat. His reply “bagels and muffins.” I let the conversation end there. That was until I received a message later that night from the Hartford Public Schools, calling to let me know that Christopher had a cafeteria balance due. I guess he was telling the truth and double dipping. When Mike and I broached the conversation, explaining that the breakfast option was for kids who couldn’t eat at home, his reply “but I was being health.” He’s trying…. meanwhile, we’re learning!
