Our projects…..

What a treat to have spring like weather in early November!  We snuck out to take advantage of the sunshine and went for a family walk on Saturday and Sunday.  I was one happy Momma!  We were also thrilled to see Sarah, Jerry, Rose and Ivy.  Our nieces are almost 8 months old now and are so full of personality.  They are so much fun and the boys really seemed to be enjoying being goof balls to elicit a reaction.  We enjoyed catching up with them yesterday and are very excited to see them again on Thanksgiving!

For the past 2 weekends, we have been busy bees working on crafting and building a built in bookshelf for the babies room.  While it’s not completed in its entirety { please don’t take note of the holes that need to be filled or the finish work that it yet to be completed}, here is a sneak peak.  I am thrilled with how it turned out and am so excited to be able to fill it in the coming weeks!  I’m thinking baskets, hardcover chunky baby books, picture frames, a few stuffed animals and some framed quotes that I’ve fallen in love with.  I just love how this little corner of what will be the nursery is now being put to good use! {Please don’t mind the wall color…. it will be brightened and lightened once we learn if it will be occupied by a bundle of blue or pink.}

The doors and backboard are bead board.  Isn’t Mike great!  He’s quite the handyman!

The soon to be nursery was once our guestroom and at one point it was used as my craft room. As you may or may not know, I have lots of crafting goodies so the concern of where to store and organize my supplies had been on my mind since we learned that our family would be expanding.  My mom and dad were super troopers, putting in multiple days sanding, priming and painting an amazingly fun storage solution.  My mom was the “scout” finding a fun, old vintage locker set that had a lot of potential but needed a lot of lovin’.  I of course had at least a half dozen ideas of where or how I could use it but given that it weights a half ton and takes up half a wall, I decided that its new home would be in our office.  I have been having a ton of fun filling the unit and getting re-organized in my new space.  The office was rearranged a bit to make room and is also getting some of the finishing touches in the weeks to come.  So, here it is… come on over and craft with me!

It’s a bit of a light, bright blueish gray {looks a bit more muted in the photo}.  I wanted something fun to go with the intense colors that we have going on in the playroom.  This was a tedious job and my parents were amazing worker bees!  Maybe being pregnant does have its perks after all!

Thanks Karen! Isn't it the best feeling to get some of your little projects done around the house. I know you guys are in neck deep now and I can't wait to see how your new place comes out!
