Oscar x 2

Truth be told, we’ve got a case of the three year old grumps!  My little grouches seems to be able to find any and everyway to yell, hit and fight with each other.  It’s exhausting and I am out of ideas.  I think I need to make a trip to the library to borrow each and every book on discipline and raising toddlers written in the last decade.  Elliot our Elf isn’t even making a difference.  Please share any advice that you may have.  We are BIG on time outs but they seem to be rather ineffective these days.  We’ve tried the 1-2-3 Magic and taking away their “favorite” things and these seem to have run their course.

So enough complaining, today was a gorgeous day and we got out for much needed fresh air.  Maybe the behaviors have to do with being cooped up for the last few weeks? Or maybe it’s the arrival of baby #3?  Or perhaps its just what 3 is all about?

We’ve been trying to stay busy to lighten the mood.  We got out our Christmas decorations and the house is at least looking cheerful although the moods might disagree.  The boys were excited to decorate a mini lighted Christmas tree for their bedroom and we are hoping to get our big tree next weekend.  Moods did not allow yesterday as we had planned!

We did sneak out for a short visit to the East Granby Library on Friday afternoon.  Time out’s and loud voices cut our time there short but it was nice to have a break in our afternoon.  We were also thrilled to meet our friends Caroline and Mathieu at the Hartford Science Center.  The place is amazing!  We were there for over 3 hours and were busy the entire time.  It is multiple levels of amazingness.  So many things to keep kids and adults alike busy and its so fun and beautiful to be right in the heart of the city.

On a brighter note, I discovered a bag of Cadbury mini eggs while cleaning the kitchen closet.  Untouched… until I found them.  It’s amazing how chocolate makes life amazing!

Tonight we are off to our small group.  We are so excited to be starting a marriage study for the next 12 weeks.  Sometimes it can be so easy to get wrapped up in the busyness of life that you forget about the importance of making time for one another.  Guilty as charged.  Mike and me time, here we come!

Awe, "Elliot" the elf. That makes me smile.
