A bit of this and that….

What a tease of Spring over the past week followed by today’s frosty flakes.  Just two days ago Aiden and Chris are asking if its Easter time yet.  A few sunny, mild, warm days and we have our yard back, dead grass and all and 48 hours later, a winter wonderland.

Monday marked 7 years since my Mr. Wonderful asked me to be his wife.  It’s so hard to believe it’s been 7 years yet it feels like an eternity since we started our life together.  Thank you Mike for making me a better me.

On Monday, the weather was too good to resist so we met our friends Ashley, Julia and Mrs. Steph at Northwest Park.  Even with the wind it was great to be outside and so nice to be with such good company.  The kids all had a blast and its always nice to have some adult conversation mid-day.  I wished the day could have lasted an extra 24 hours, especially since the week has taken such a turn weather wise!

Tuesday was a special Mamie day.  Aiden and Chris went out to lunch with Mamie and Great Grammie Tag.  They had their lunch menu planned from the minute they got out of bed!  I took advantage of some quiet time without distractions and headed up to our attic {aka crawl space} to sort out the remaining baby clothes and goodies.  Almost 2 hours later I resurfaced but am so thankful that have that done….. Now onto finding new places and spaces for all of these things.  I am once again amazed at the quantity of things such a little person could need and use.

I created a new Hopkins family laundry folding record today.  17 loads and still going strong {4:50 am – 7:20 pm}.  Lots of folding, sorting and bags of donations.  There’s a light at the end of the tunnel.  Newborn, preemie and early baby clothes washed.  Baby bedding washed. Bibs, blankets and misc baby things washed.  Next up, reworking the drawers so everything has a proper home.  I am never satisfied the first time around.  Am I the only one?  I know that Mike could care less.  The laundry started before the sun rose.  School was cancelled and the boys and I laid low all day.  They were great sports, stopping our activities every 40 minutes so that I could switch out loads of laundry.  We did a lot of crafting, creating, cleaning and playing.  We even ventured outside for some snowy fun.  Aiden occupied himself building a snowman with a mohawk (see picture below) while Chris was busy burying his dump truck in snow ans shoveling the driveway.  The fresh air was fantastic.  The snow was perfect for snowmen and sledding.  Slippery.  Sticky. Clean {snack worthy according to the boys}. New.

Today marks the last official month of having 2-3 year olds in our house.  I’ve been reading up on 4 year olds and I have to say it all sounds pretty darn good to me.  We have a Monster Mash Rally party in the works, two very excited boys and one big birthday surprise for them.  I sure hope it’s a hit….

Tomorrow we wish Auntie Stephie a very Happy Birthday….  We love you!
