Hurricane Charlotte….Such a sweet, beautiful name, isn’t it? Not in the eyes of two little men ready to celebrate their birthday. If we’re being honest, I was one bummed Momma as I has spent much of last week planning, organizing, decorating and preparing. We woke up and knew the snow was scheduled to stop around 7 am. Mike spent 3 hours shoveling and snow blowing and we decided that the party would go on for anyone free and able to join us. Well, the state of CT and MA had a different idea, one we hadn’t even considered when making the decision to move forward. A travel ban? Say what?
The good news is that yesterday gave us a practice round of sorts and today we are more than ready and rearing to go and hopeful that our families can make it out easier today to join us!
So aside from a postponed birthday party and two broken hearted boys, the snow was like nothing we’ve seen in a long time. We went from having a view of a lawn with dead grass to being buried with over 2 feet of fluffy white wonder. My snow pants are far from fitting comfortably so squeezing in and playing outside in the cold is less than appealing. Mike was a great sport {and we had him home all weekend!} and took A & C out to burn some energy yesterday. With masses of snow, there’s nothing better than snow tunnels. Fun! I braved it outside briefly to snap a few pictures and quickly excused myself to the warmth of the house and chores that lie ahead.
As for the rest of last week, well it’s history! School was cancelled Friday as was our much anticipated play date scheduled for Friday afternoon with our friends from CA, Jen, Georgianna and their new little baby girl Alex. These frosty flakes are date wreckers for sure! Dziadzu and Grammie stopped over for a visit on Thursday afternoon and the boys were thrilled to see them and so excited to be able to open a few birthday presents from them early.
We’ll see what the week ahead brings with this snow. This week was our week for nursery duty at church and we were rearing to go until we received a phone call that church was cancelled. Fingers crossed that the schools can clear out and reopen tomorrow for sanities sake!
I’m already at week 30 with little man. I’ve got an appointment scheduled this Tuesday and have started going bi-weekly. I’ll keep you posted on my mid-week post and truly can’t believe that we are already getting so close to the end. I can’t wait to meet this little man and see how he is going to fit into our already blessed family! Have a safe, warm and cozy week everyone!
This may be the last of the belly pictures but while I’m feeling brave, here’s my 30 week belly shot.
