With four days off and a delay last week for the snow I was pleased that we had Monday off for Presidents Day and returned to our usual schedule on Tuesday. No February vacation in Hartford and thankfully A & C don’t know the difference. Since Tuesday they have been asking how many more days until the weekend. I think they were spoiled by all of the snow days!
It’s been a great week. The boys sense of humor is awesomely entertaining. We some how acquired {and I say acquired because I swear that neither Mike nor I purchased it…} some fake poop. Yes, poop. And poop of any kind of hysterical to any 4 year old. The boys love nothing more than slipping it under our pillows before they head to bed at night. The joke never gets old and they eager await your response first thing in the morning. They are just starting to enjoy repeating jokes, laughing at punch lines that I am certain they don’t understand. I will laugh all day long for them as there is nothing better than hearing the joy in their voice and their squeaky little giggles…. real, or fake, I’ll take it!
As we enter the world of four year olds, Life in our house is filled with…
… Giggles and mischief
…Lots of Thomas the Train
… Coloring and craft projects
… Fisher Price Geotracks
… Their favorite stuffed doggies
… Peanut butter & fluff sandwiches (Aiden) and peanut butter and Nutella sandwiches (Chris)
… Cereal and lots of it!
… Wood working and the desire to spend as much time in Daddy’s workshop
… Outfit dilemma's
… Many middle of the night knocks on our bedroom door followed by requests to be tucked into bed or requests for kisses and snuggles {they’ve pounced on my weak spot!}
… Bearstein Bears & Clifford Books {nightly… to the point that they have several memorized}
… Endless questions and the search for knowledge {Their favorite question sounds something like this…. Mom, what’s RQYUISYU spell? [and repeat x 100]}
…. Comparisons and lots of them {He got one more turn…. His lick was bigger…. He got to wear those pants twice now….you get the picture….}
…Lots of pretend playing {usually involving costumes and/or stuffed animals}
… Endless bargaining to get one more bite of dessert or to try sneak another piece of candy {I guess they inherited my sweet tooth!}
… Big dreams to own a logging company (Aiden) and a construction company (Chris) bringing about a desire to save their money earned or gifted to them with the exception of a dollar spent here or there for “treasures” at the Dollar Store.
…. Lots of negotiating
… The question “how many more days until summer"?”
… The daily request “can you please add X to my Christmas list for next year” {I guess they plan ahead!}
… Fort making, and/or building/construction of some sort.
… Answers… for everything…..
… The genuine desire to love and be loved; pleasing those around them.
… Organization (Aiden) & chaos (Chris)
… The request to play outside
… The constant desire to grow and learn
Life is fun and we are indeed blessed! As we enter into the final stage of this pregnancy, it makes me ever so grateful for my remaining days with my big boys before chaos arrives. They are certainly loved and its my job to make sure they know it!
I’m off to work on their “baby books…” 4 years later! Happy Wednesday everyone!
