What do you think of our new look and name? About time, right??? I guess Jake is now an official part of our blog , hence our name, High Five. It’s weird to think that we’re now a family of FIVE! The “Life outnumbered” was Mike’s contribution and refers to the fact that there are now more kids then adults. Scary!
We’re settling into our expanded family well, although each day is different and all seem totally unpredictable! Our poor little tike has one sore bum and it has been one long week for my littlest trooper. Jacob has the worst diaper rash EVER! You can tell he is in agony We contacted our pediatrician and quite literally tried every product on the market and are hopeful that with time it will get better. SOON. Seeing him so sad and uncomfortable breaks my heart. We’re talking real tears with each diaper change. So not fair! Outside of his discomfort, he’s been a trooper. An easy going, sweet little boy. He’s eating well and sleeping well and is a keeper for sure. We’re even lucky enough to enjoy 3-4 hour stretches of sleep at night! Woo hoo!
Big brothers Aiden and Chris are adjusting well. They are totally “into” Jacob, sometimes too much so! Lots of wet, silly, sloppy kisses. Jake knows their voices for sure and is quick to open his eyes and focus on their faces. Bedtimes have been a nightmare for these two and I’m actually excited that summer vacation begins in 5 weeks so hopefully we can move bedtimes a bit later with the hope that they will sleep past 5 am. I’m not quite sure how they’re functioning on 9 hours sleep as 4 year olds. Perhaps it explains their snappiness!
This week the boys spent the afternoon on Tuesday with Mamie. They met Grandpa at the Summer House for lunch and had a fun afternoon playing at their house. Such a welcomed change of pace for all of us and something we all look forward to each week. Spoiled? Indeed, I am! I got a few chores done and spent much of my afternoon trying to ease the pain of the little guys diaper discomfort. I was also able to enjoy a quick visit from my friend Megan. We have been so lucky to have meals delivered to us for the last few weeks. I can’t tell you how much of a treat it is to have the night “off” from cooking. Leaves for more time for snuggles and Megan was one of our delivery goddesses! We can’t thank everyone enough for that reprieve. We are so gosh darn lucky!
Here’s Jake at 3 weeks old…. Gotta love that wincey smile. Melts my heart.
And our big boys got a surprise this weekend. Mike and I felt brave and took the leap to bunk their beds. They were thrilled and SO excited to have a new place to climb…. We have ground rules… lots of them and so far so good! Chris has top bunk, Aiden bottom.

We love the "new" look of the blog. Also love the big boys in the bunk beds and little Jakes smiles.
Love to all.

Bunkbeds! What fun! I'd love to hear what your rules are. I'm assuming "No Jumping" is one of them. Bunkbeds are so fun: caves, pirate ships, tree forts...
