I’ve been on a blogging vacation but I’m back and ready to share so thank you for sticking with us! I am so thrilled to have my computer back as the screen on my laptop {only a year old} broke and was out of commission for a week. You truly don’t realize how dependent you are on something until it’s gone. I’m admittedly overly dependent! I’m admittedly also very forgetful these days and I sat down to blog but couldn’t remember where I left off.
Little man is 6 weeks old. It’s been a fun ride… lots of highs and lows and amazing little smiles that emerged about 2 weeks ago. His is Mr. Sunshine first thing in the morning. Happy as can be, smiling away and saving his biggest smiles for me {certainly no complaining here!} Our poor little ham has been having a rough break in the afternoons and evenings, seeming very uncomfortable and upset. There’s nothing worse then feeling so helpless. So, after much research online, I found a few solutions related to nursing and have been implementing them with some success for a week now. I also enlisted the advice of a licensed lactation consultant and I am feeling hopeful. He is such a great little guy and his discomfort seems to heighten after he feeds so I am also bringing Jake Mister to the pediatrician this week to find out if it could be related to reflux. We’re crossing our fingers that they may have some new suggestions at least to keep our sunshine smiling all day.
So new since my last post…
- Jake had his first real bath. Despite being hungry, he really seemed to like it.
- Jake tried his first bottle and did well. I am trying to get him used to taking a bottle now so that when the need arises, I can escape… alone…..
- Jakes diaper rash is finally starting to go away!
- Mike and I went on our first “date” since Jake was born. Grammie and Dziadzu watched the big boys while Mike and I took advantage of being able to run some errands with much less resistance and only the little man in tow.
- Jake had his first 5 hour stretch at night. Nights have been good. He typically goes a 3-4 hour stretch and wakes up once mid-night and is up at 5ish for the day. Coffee once again tastes amazing.
- Our veggie garden is planted and we’ve enjoyed several fresh strawberries already!
- Cali escaped outside (the first of many offenses this summer I am certain).
- We had a bear in the conservation area next door. Thankfully a kind stranger stopped to let us know as the boys were outside playing!
- Aiden and Chris’s school countdown has begun…. 10 days left until their first year is over!
- We explored a new splash park in West Hartford with some school friends. What a blast and fun way to beat the heat on one of our 90 degree days!
- We had our first trip to the library with baby in tow. He was less than quiet but it was fun to catch up with our friends the Tetreault’s.
- Our bridesmaids dresses are ordered for my sister’s wedding and the countdown is down to just over 4 months!
- Mike, the boys and I ran our first road race of the year today. We were thrilled with our times {given the fact that we both pushed a stroller} and thrilled to be “back in the game…” Chris even crossed the finish line himself beaming ear to ear.
- I turned the big 3-2 and am feeling everyday of it!
- My dear friend Kym welcomed a precious second child, a baby girl, Caitlyn Elizabeth on May 23rd.
- We visited Coco Keys waterpark in CT for the first time with all three boys. Jacob and I sat pool side while Mike and the big boys explored, splashed and had a blast. The boys were brave little souls, willing to try anything with zero fear. A Groupon deal well worth it!
- Mike and his cousin Drew entered what we are hoping to be the final month of laboring at the house flip. They/we’ve got several long weeks ahead of us but it’s their hope that they will be wrapping the project up by early July. I …. can…. not …. wait!!!! I may even splurge and celebrate with my first beer in over a year…. maybe….
We’ve survived our first month and a half as a family of five. Despite the house being in a continual state of disarray, we are loving every minute of it. While I may not continue on with my usual posting schedule, stick with me as I promise to get back in the game.
