Fall fun

Life is hustling and bustling these days.  We like it busy and somehow, timing is flying by all too quickly and we are in the fast lane.  Our little man will be 6 months old at the end of the week.  6 Months!  I feel like it was just yesterday that the older two were sleeping through the night for the first time {maybe due to the fact that we are now in 6 months deep with a third little man who despises sleep as well!}  Everyday feels like a struggle to find a balance between enjoying the kids, getting the basis’s done around the house, sneaking in work from home at night, maintaining friendships and high fiving Mike at the end of the day.  Most days, I wonder where I went wrong with my time, feeling like I’ve been cleaning all day, just to maintain.  Kids will be kids and the bottom line is that I am so blessed to have three healthy, amazing kids who keep me youthful and entertained.

It’s been a great week.  We’ve been staying busy.  Despite being Columbus Day, Monday was school as usual.  I appreciate consistency and look forward to days with our “normal” schedule.  Mike worked from home and we were able to sneak out for a late afternoon hike which was an added bonus.  I must give kudos to Aiden and Chris who were super troopers.  We hiked the Metacomet Trail, leaving from Sunrise Park in Suffield.  We kept a decent pace and were gone for almost 2 hours, all the while, the two older ones hop, skipped and jumped up the mountain, likely about 4 miles distance!  Jake didn’t want to miss a beat so he skipped his nap instead to take in his surroundings.  {Do you know any almost 6 month olds that take only one morning nap… seriously?  This kid must be sneaking caffeine!}  The hike was a blast.  Steep and perfect for our entire family to enjoy.  The weather was to die for and the view, breathtaking.  It’s on our to-do list as we would all like to repeat it again soon!

We also had to take advantage of the gorgeous weather over the weekend so we headed to Northwest Park for a shorter, flatter hike. If only we could bottle up this fresh air and sunshine and slowly release it over the cold, winter days that loom ahead.  These days are ideal!

Last week I had the privilege of volunteering in Christopher’s classroom.  It was great to meet some of his friends and interesting to see the kiddos in action.  I am lucky to have met a friend, Alanna who is Chris’s best classroom buddy, Mason’s mom.  Alanna and I led a fall craft with the class.   Despite the fact that Jake and the front pack he was in came home covered in green paint, it was a hit.  The kids seemed to enjoy it, Jake skipped nap but was in his glory with that much to watch and I loved seeing Chris at work in his school environment.  It is such a fun age and I’m looking forward to returning again soon. I must also note that Chris was quick to point out some of the trouble makers during my visit.  As a matter of fact, during our time with our first group of students, Chris came running over and said “Hi Mom, see this boy, this is Andre.  He is a trouble maker and the one that kicked me in the head.”  Caught of guard and unsure how to recover, I thanked Chris for the introduction and attempted to explain that we all make mistakes.  Four year olds have NO filters!  The joys of parenting!

More pictures to come soon.  I am slowly trying to sneak in a few minutes of “me” time here and there to catch up on my blog and Mommy things.  Jakes keeping my hands busy during the days for sure :)
