Holiday preparations

I’m guessing my kitchen may look like most… lots of baking, lots of last minute projects in the works and the mess that goes along with it all!

I love the holidays and all of the goodness that go along with the celebrations!  Pictured above we took some time this weekend to make some homemade fudge {compliments of an amazing secret family recipe from an unnamed friend!  You know who you are, thank you!}  I also braved homemade sea salted toffee.  If you find yourself with extra time on your hands this week, {does that ever really happen?!?}  I encourage you to try these….. http://jonesdesigncompany.com/holiday/lets-make-sea-salt-caramels/  You will thank me but your waste line may not!  I should forewarn you that the waiting game to get the sugars to just the right temperature is just that…. a waiting game and a true test of your patience.  After 25 minutes, a steamy hot face and near blisters, I enlisted Mike’s help…. You’ve been warned!

Our house seems to be a continual “project.”  I know those with young kids are in the same boat.  You clean up one project only to turn around and find three new projects, one from each little one.  I guess it’s good to have something to keep you busy… at all times!  We’ve been trying to work hard to sort and make a give away pile at every opportunity yet we’re still drowning in toys.  First world problems for sure.  Tag sale time? It’s quite possible !  {Not sure why but the boys have been asking to have a “garage sale” for a year now.  I have been postponing the thought and donating along the way as I know just how much work goes into them!}

Jake is finally on the upswing, or so it seems.  The poor little monkey has been sick for way too long and this desperate mothers is crossing her fingers for better sleep in the very near future!  He’s all smiles but his sweet little wimpers get me every time.  3 am or 3 pm….

PS – Jake is officially crawling and pulling up on everything. Look at those little chicken legs….. It’s a dangerous world….
