Oh my oh my! I am back. We are well. I have been gone FOREVER and I apologize! It’s been one thing after another, starting with a computer that was broken for 3 weeks. Yes, 3 weeks! I am back up and running and ever so slowly recovering. I have never appreciated how many programs I downloaded, how many passwords were automatically “saved” for me and just how much I depend on this little black machine. Little by little I am getting there. Starting with my blog! I have missed sharing and have so many fun things to document. I will start with the present with the hope that over the coming weeks I can catch up, so bear with me. If I didn’t know any better, I would swear that I had early onset Alzheimer's as sleep deprivation is getting the best of me and the only chance I stand at remembering anything and I literally mean anything is if I write it down. We’re talking sticky notes littering the house, lists in my pockets {that usually go through the wash because I forget about them!}, lists on my phone, emailed lists, text reminders and memories kept on my blog. These are the days I refuse to forget and while I am certainly enjoying every little moment, they are quickly fleeting and often becoming a blur. Confession made. I remember n.o.t.h.i.n.g and I know it darn well. My days of sleep are ahead but for now, I’m not at a place of being “ready” to let my little man cry it out. Spoiled, yes! Well loved, beyond imagination!
So, what have we been up to this week? Check out our festivities last night! Instead of heading to bed at 6:30, we joined our friends Steph, Ashley and Julia at the library in town for an adorable little remake of the Polar Express. Picture 25 kids in their PJ’s, intently listening to the story, reenacting their own little train, surprised with a visit from “the real Santa!” Excitement!
A night topped off with crafts, cookies and hot chocolate! How sweet is that? When asked what they wanted for Christmas, Aiden gave a very serious, well thought out list. Chris told Santa he would need a few minutes to think about it. I guess that speaks to who they are!
In other exciting news, we also got our first snow of the season… it’s not even winter! Jake LOVED the snow! So entertained watching the fluff fall for the first time and I was quickly reminded of the simple things in life that we take for granted. The look of wonderment in the eyes of a baby are sometimes necessary to make us slow down a bit.
Without further ado, here’s a glimpse at our afternoon enjoying the first real snow fall and Jakes first time in the frosty flakes.
The big boys busied themselves with building the worlds smallest snowman. It was hard work but we had just the right men for the job.
Here is the early formation:
Jake in the meantime, couldn’t help but crawl around, eating the snow, carefree about the fact that it was cold and wet! Check out that wet little bottom!
Are you sick of seeing these little faces yet? There’s plenty more where these came from!
How is your holiday shopping coming along? My mom {partner in crime and best sport ever!} and I headed out way ahead of the daylight on black Friday morning and I gleefully wrapped up my purchases. I did much of my shopping online this year and had most done earlier in the month but I couldn’t resist the excitement and tradition of it all.
As you might guess and are likely finding yourself, we are inundated with boxes. And we’re talking BIG boxes! Monday the kids were home from school because of the snow so we pulled out old school entertainment and made our very own castle and kings hats. Check out our drawbridge door. We’re fancy like that! Yes, I spent longer building it than they spent enjoying it but at least Cali enjoyed some respite inside it at night. There are far too many ideas online and I could surely spend days creating many but for the time being, we’re keeping our master pieces small…. so they can easily be recycled! Cheers to creativity and projects that take half a day but don’t cost a dime :)
Happy December and thanks for sticking with me through my absence! I’ll be back… I promise!
