Fancy pants

This weekend I got fancy.  I put on my jeans and headed out.  Not once, but twice.  Alone.  It’s true, I took off my sweatpants and was out on the town solo twice and it felt… special.  Jeans may not be a big deal to most but to me, it’s a sign that it’s not an ordinary day.  It was a weekend worth remembering and I have one special man at home supporting me and allowing me to just be me every once in a while.  And we all know as Mom’s that sometimes that is a luxury.

Saturday afternoon I headed to Opa Opa Steak House to honor a special friend from Umass as she retires.  The turn out was phenomenal and it was so nice to see so many familiar faces and catch up on the nitty gritty that I’ve missed out on.  Yummy food, good company and no kiddos in tow.  Amazing!

Aiden and Chris had quite a treat of their own as they were bound for Kid City.  Uncle Andrew had a fabulous idea at Christmas and gifted the boys with a special day out.  Saturday was the day and what a gift it was.  We kept it a surprised and they were excited to see him and thrilled to learn that they would be doing something extra special.  Rumor has it that they did well and they reportedly had a wonderful time.

Mike in the meantime headed to Mamie and Grandpa’s for a bit with Jake.  Jake isn’t a big fan of the car but had a good time and really enjoyed his alone time visiting.  Not a bad ratio of 3 adults to one baby! What a great feeling to know that you’ve been away but everyone else has been enjoying themselves as well!

Mike and I had the chance to visit with Andrew after the kiddos went to bed and Andrew spent the night.  The boys were beside themselves when they woke up and found out he was still there.  We enjoyed a leisurely morning and enjoyed our time together as it doesn’t happen often enough.

After lunch, Grammie, Dziadzu and Auntie Laura came for a visit!  The ladies headed out for a crochet class and we were all pleasantly surprised to learn we can crochet {although it may be something that none of us are super stars at…. yet!}  We came home with our “wee little baskets” started and lots of work ahead of ourselves.  What a perfect way to end our weekend, enjoying dinner together before the kids quickly drifted off to dream land!

Monday was school as usual with swim lessons to follow and I was lucky enough to get out… yet again to meet one of my favorite friends Leeanne to catch up and enjoy some good grub.

Life is good!

Here is a sneak peak at my work in progress {planning to add some more height and I would love to fold the edge down and add a little handle}….. Please don’t judge and please don’t look too closely.
