They’re five!
Today we needed a low key, do nothing day. We have two very tired, over stimulated, over gifted little five year olds. They were happy, excited and lets be honest, finding every way to annoy one another. I guess there’s no magic in a number…but we did have some fun!
They awoke to a our annual tradition, a room filled with balloons and a door way “blockaded” with streamers. Why not start the day off excited, right?
The boys woke up to their special ceramic birthday cupcakes {a previous gift from Auntie Laura} filled with a little note that gave a clue where they could find their birthday presents. They were into it and on the hunt… off to the basement they went! And here’s what they found…
Tonight we’re feeling brave and despite their lack of sleep, we’re letting them “camp out” in their bedroom. We’re twenty minutes in so far and we’re hearing lots of giggles and have seen their big boy faces 5+ times.
Although the day didn’t go as I had hoped, we still enjoyed a day of delight and of course some more dessert. Always more dessert. Oreo Truffle heaven, enjoyed by all! Candles relight a few times because it made the birthday boys happy!
And finally, the icing on the cake…..
The looonnnnggg awaited first piece of bubble gum. Their very own packs. The event that has been talked about since they were two or three {We secretly hoped they would forget!} It was everything they hoped for and more. I’m pretty sure they had three pieces each within the first five minutes. It will be a learning experience for Mike and I!
Thank you everyone for the special messages, notes, card and wishes. They are blessed beyond measure!
Happy Birthday to my two biggest big boys. One half decade old!
