High Five: It’s New England!

I glance at the clock… 5:10 am. It’s dark but the snow casts a bright gleam of light through the window. I’m feeding the baby. The kids are awake and Christopher’s started the day off whistling from his top bunk despite my requests to go back to bed.

Today is a deep breath kind of day. The kind of day where you grab a bigger cup of coffee as you begin a referee match with the older two who are “enjoying” a two hour delay from school. A quick glance at the clock and it’s only 7:00 am. It’s New England and we’ve signed up for this. I’m not complaining, just rearranging.

With the snowy weather comes the opportunity to dive into some fun crafty and delicious projects.

Here’s a look at what’s been keeping us sane as the flakes began to fall.

Homemade kettle corn {two attempts because the first one not only burnt but also popped all over the floor and made a HUGE mess} to find the perfect recipe for the boys “gluten free, dairy free, peanut free” birthday celebration at school.

Dive in to a healthier treat and let the kids help with the mess free process! {Just stay clear of those stove top suggestions…. we’re talking flying popcorn kernels, sizzling, spraying oil and a big old kitchen mess! – See specimen pictures on the left below}
