Dust be gone.

That’s it, I’m dusting off my darn computer.  Frustrated as always but thankful that my vacation post with which I worked to post 3 times finally saved and went live without errors.  Phew…. I’ll be the first to admit that our summer routines are different.  “Free” time during naps is non-existent as Aiden and Chris typically have plans for our quieter time; Bed times are later; Morning walks are sporadic and I can’t seem to carve out enough time for myself to be as attentive to my blog as I would hope.  Anyway, here I am playing a good old game of catch up.

In other news, my parents, brave, brave souls that they are had their first sleep over with all THREE boys!  Yes, Jakes first sleepover with Mike and I! Successful?  Well that all depends on how you define success.  My poor parents were troopers and kept him over night last Saturday and while it wasn’t a restful night, they gave Mike and I our first date night in a long, long time.  We went to dinner, went for a quiet walk at dusk, worked on some projects around the house and enjoyed just being us.  Sometimes it’s easy to forget what that feels like and for that, we are so thankful.

Leading up to the sleepover, my dear friend Heather took some amazing pictures of our family, big and small at Quabbin Reservoir.  Pictures truly are the ultimate treat as she captured things that only she could.  After our photo shoots, we had pizza with my parents and I headed out for a night catching up with my local girlfriends.  I am oh so lucky to still have amazing friends from my youth and a Friday night out with these ladies was just what I needed.  The kiddos were early to rise Saturday but we had a fun morning ahead as my Mom hosted my sister and my best childhood friends and their families.  Having the kids together with good food and good company was good for the soul.  It was that kind of weekend – a good, good weekend indeed!  oxo
