Perspective

How easy is it to loose perspective?  After a week home with the kids for April vacation, I for one must admit defeat.  Many mornings by 7 am we had hearts broken, boys spending alone time in their rooms and a Mommy that woke with a hot fuse.  The days were full and challenging.  Their moods were antagonistic and feisty but here we are.  Alive and well.  It's Sunday.  We survived and perhaps admittedly enjoyed many moments.

Busy is good.  I tried to keep the boys on the go and entertained thinking perhaps this would lighten moods and maybe it did.  They're normal kids.  They fight; they make bad choices and they know just the right buttons to press to obtain the desired effect.  They're boys.  They have high energy, they love rough, tumble play and they look at everything as a competitive opportunity.  There was plenty of good mixed with bad and I think we will all walk away from this week with special moments stuck on our minds.

Monday we celebrated Jake.  Our officially three year old spunky little man.

Tuesday the boys and I took a road trip to meet Mamie, Auntie Sarah, Rose, Ivy & friends at Mystic Aquarium and continued our journey to Old Saybrook, enjoying time crabbing and searching for beach treasures.

Wednesday we met our friends, the Sylvestre's at the New England Air Museum.  But a few miles down the road from our house yet a first for our family and a lot of fun.  We may have skipped over every bit of history and informative documentation but we managed to find fun in dressing up, taking over the simulators and running like wild men.

Thursday we had to have my car serviced so our mobility was limited.  We explored a new trail and played a bit of catch up at home
We ended the week with a bang. Our first stop Friday morning was Mrs. Murphy's on our way with our friends the Locke's to Stanley Park.  The weather was incredible and we had fun checking out all of the sights and sounds and even snuck in a geocache and fun trail adventures.
We also enjoyed a surprise visit from our friends the Schillings on Friday afternoon.  I unfortunately wasn't wise enough to snap a picture but we truly enjoyed seeing them and catching up!

The baseball season officially started yesterday and we went the day having team photos, opening day ceremonies and their first game.  The kids did great and Chris was in his glory.  Aiden had his third week of lacrosse and both boys have officially found their love of a spring sport.

This weekend was a good mix of fun and work.  We started the boys tree house and are finally tackling some spring projects.  Our list is endless but the planning and dreaming is so much fun and while some of it may just be a dream, I'm okay with that for now!

Happy birthday to Jake! Looks like you had a fun filled spring vacation! As much as we want the kids to be home it's always so crazy when they are. Here's to a calm(ish) summer vacation!
