Foster Farms with the Schilling Family!
Backing up to last week I again wonder where time goes? On Thursday morning, Grammie Hopkins came over to spend some time with Chris and Aiden so that I could go for an annual physical. In an attempt to be most efficient with my time, I went to a new doctor at a practice in East Longmeadow. My forever family physician, Dr. Hsiao, is in Belchertown which makes it over an hour and a half round trip just to get there. Needless to say, I tried the new practice... well I should clarify and say "new" as in "new" to me, not newly opened and what a different feel. The Doctor was great; super nice and very easy to talk to but the overall feel of the practice was one of a professional business, not a homey, concerned medical family. I am going to continue going there but I sure do miss the small town feel of a practice that has one doctor and used to be housed in someones home! Gotta love growing up in a small town! I did get my flu shot so I was very excited about that and Chris and Aiden did great and loved their time with their grammie.
Speaking of flu shots, I got a surprising call on Friday that the boys peditrician's office was going to have to cancel their scheduled appointment for their second flu shot this coming Tuesday. Apparently the office is out of the vaccine! They assured me that they would be getting more but couldn't give me a date. Their suggestion was to call back in a few weeks and my take is to call back every few days for the new few weeks! For me it is funny how I find myself becoming a pushy person when it comes to my boys and their health. I heard too many people remind me that Mike and I are the boys only advocates so that rings through my head everytime something like this comes up. I am greatful that they got one shot already because something is better than nothing... Now we just have to hope that Mike is able to get one too!
"Rain, rain go away..." was our theme song for Friday! The boys and I had plans to meet up with our friends Jen and her daughter Georgianna for a walk but we were unfortunately stuck inside, wishfully peaking out the window, hoping for a break in the rain with no success. I finally succommend and bundled the boys up and went for a short walk in the afternoon "mist". I think it did us ALL a world of good!!! The boys are certaintly taking after me, going stir crazy if we are inside all day long! Speaking of going crazy... I also went bleach crazy on Friday and bleached my hair blonde! I needed to add some spice to my life :) Just kidding... I decided to bleach every baby toy, baby mat and kitchen item in sight! It was a long overdue cleaning!!!
Yesterday we had a blast at Foster Farm with the Schilling Family. We did a corn maze, pedaling tractor road race track, had lunch and played on some of the climbing toys and visited. All of the kids seemed to really enjoy it and the girls were great helps with the babies. Aiden and Chris definitely loved all of the attention! We will definitely be keeping this venue in mind for future fall outings!
Last night Grammie & Dziadz Pt came over to watch Aiden and Chris so that Mike and I could have some adult time out. We went to dinner and ran a few errands. It was great to get have a reason to get out of my sweatpants and nice to catch up with Mike. Isn't it sad when you live in the same house but yet find it difficult to have adult time. The boys enjoyed getting spoiled and Mike and I enjoyed catching up with my parents when we got home.
Today Mike and I volunteered in the church nursery for the first time. What a busy, fun, tiring experience! I can assure you that being with 8 infants/todders made us appreciate even more that we were blessed with twins and not triplets and helped to reinforce that we will be waiting a while before expanding our family further! We also went for a walk by the brook behind our house with the boys in the childrens back pack carriers. Despite being hungry the boys seemed the enjoy the world from their new view!
Their new flavor blast this week was sweet potatoes and cottage cheese. The sweet potatoes are now a favorite at the top of the list with bananas and we are still working on convincing them that cottage cheese is great as well! We look forward to another great week ahead!
