Missing Auntie

Auntie's moving crew

Chris (R) and Aiden(L) check out the guest bedroom after Auntie's stuff is all packed and loaded and the room is empty. What could be better than a ride on the comfy, swivel desk chair? Yee Haw!

I guess the weathermen were right with their predictions of the storms last week. The snow/rain kept us inside until Friday morning when we finally bundled up and met our friends Caroline and Mathieu for a walk. It was cold and windy and Aiden was not thrilled to be out, so the fresh air was shorted lived but still great to see our friends and wonderful to be outside! Chris was bundled and just content.

Friday afternoon we were thrilled to have a visit with Grammie Pt and her friend Mary. Mary is also a grandmother and I think the boys could sense it as Aiden took an intense interest in catching Mary's eyes. Earlier Friday I had reorganized some of the kitchen cabinets to create a drawer that the boys could safely get into and it was a hit. It took me about 20 minutes to organize the drawer and it took them about 5 minutes to empty it, drawer liner and all! We enjoyed our visit and as always Chris and Aiden loved the company! They get excited from the time they hear the door open and are trained to crawl as fast as they can toward the noise.

Saturday morning Auntie Laura rented a U-Haul (which the boys loved) and made the move to Worcester. Grammie and Dziadz Pt and Mike helped load the truck while I kept the boys entertained and occupied. We were all sad to see Auntie go but are so excited for her and her adventures ahead! To celebrate new beginnings for her, I tried out a new recipe in my bread machine for cinnamon buns and they were yummy! I figured everyone could use some energy for the move. The house is quiet without Auntie and Cali is lost without her roommate!

After a week of lots of rainy, snow and time spent inside Mike and I decided to take advantage of having two parents and two babies and we ventured out! I will be the first to admit that I can be a bit of a germaphob so our trip on Saturday was something I never saw myself being excited to do but desperate weeks call for desperate measures. We may a pit stop at the play area at the Enfield Square Plaza. The boys LOVED it! They were by far the smallest and even with Mike or I by their side at all times, they were still trampled but in their glory. Like myself, they are people watchers. The play area was packed and there were kids of all ages to admire. The boys took quite a liking to a little girl who was 4 years old. She was the "queen of the play area" from what other parents said and she also took a liking to the boys. When we first arrived Aiden sat and stared up at her and she said to Mike "why's that boy looking at me?" Mike told her that he liked her and she said "why's that boy smiling at me?" It could have been her braided and beaded hair or perhaps her puffy bright yellow tutu but whatever it was, Aiden was fascinated. It was only a matter of minutes before she was directing the other kids to "watch out for her babies." It was very cute! Can we adopt an older sister? The boys were very easy going around the other kids and loved crawling and checking out all of the play structures. It is a great indoor activity for anyone who is not afraid of germs. We all sanitized WELL as we headed to the car.

Today we went to Simsbury Farms with the boys for an afternoon ice skating session. We left the skating up to Mike but we met up with a group of friends from our church who all welcomed spending time with Chris and Aiden which freed Mike up to get out on the ice. The rink is outdoors but under a covered roof and they have a heated waiting room that overlooks the rink where the boys and I spent our time. The boys had a blast being the center of attention and we were thrilled to check out the farm as it will be a great place to return to again in the future. Thank goodness for nice weather! It certainly wasn't going to hold us back this weekend. We enjoyed great walks on Friday, Saturday and today and tomorrow is March 1st. Spring, here we come!
