Christopher enjoying the cool breeze on the porch

Aiden taking in some fresh air on a hot summer day

I am happy to report that Chris and Aiden have finally adjusted to their starvation diet. They aren't drinking as much milk but would be happy to drink juice or water all day long. Unfortunately for them, their drinks of choice are rationed with the hopes that they will save some room for milk. Christopher has even started going over to the door of the fridge to let me know when he is thirsty! They may not be talking clearly but they certainly have alternative ways of communicating! Their diet these past few days has consisted of mostly oranges, cheerios, juice and yogurt but they are at least trying other foods and putting new things in their mouths for at least a few seconds before they spit them out!

The yogurt feeding has been quite entertaining. They are both starting to get the hang of using a spoon and Aiden is pretty efficient. I do have to remind them that they have to actually use the right end of the spoon but I think in time, they will be master spooners!

Aside from our advances in eating the boys have also started to make new associations. For example, they will see Elmo in a book, say "elmo" in their own little language then point to the Elmo doll that they have. They also love to find two of the same objects and share one with their brother. I do need to clarify that in sharing, who ever initiates the sharing clearly has a preference over which object they choose to keep for themselves and which object they choose to share. It is very cute. While they do love to steal toys from one another, bite each other constantly and find ways to get on one another nerves, they are also already taking very good care of each other. There have been a few mornings recently where Aiden has woken up from a nap quite upset and Christopher has often been willing to take his own "nuk" (pacifier) and give it up so that Aiden can have it. He simple takes it out of his mouth and hands it to Aiden. This is without Mike or I asking or initiating... brotherly love! In watching the bond between the two boys, there are several.... okay, most days that Mike and I admit that we are envious of the fact that they have a built in best friend and partner in crime. What could be better???

Monday was a great day. To beat the heat we headed to visit our friends Caroline and Mathieu at their condo and pool. They have a wonderful kiddie pool that comes up to the boys waists and the water temp was almost 80 degrees. I have to admit that I was a bit nervous about having two of them and only one of me but it worked out. Caroline is always such a great help when we get together and she is my third set of hands as needed! The pool was so refreshing and the boys didn't seem to mind it. They weren't too sure at first and clung to my side but they quickly warmed up and started to enjoy it! Later we headed inside to cool off and check out Mathieu's toys. It was a fun day all around.

On Tuesday Grammie Hopkins came over for a visit in the morning. Aiden and Chris recognize her voice from the second she walks in and says hello. Chris has taken a liking to playing a game where he goes from Grammie holding him to Mommy holding him and repeats it x 10! I am guessing that may be his way of feeling in charge. I headed out to do some grocery shopping in the morning while Grammie was there to watch the boys. Grammie was a great sport and came back later in the afternoon so that Mike, myself and Grandpa Hopkins could go check out an outdoor swing set for the boys. We had the opportunity to receive a free wooden swing set if we could disassemble it and move it ourselves. The problem came in with the disassembly piece! Unfortunately the bolts didn't want to cooperate so we cut our losses and came home empty handed. I was bummed and felt badly about getting so many people involved on such a dead end venture. I guess it was a live and learn experience!

Tonight Daddy is working late but Leeanne has offered to come for a visit to keep me company! I am excited to see her and catch up! We also have OT this afternoon with Karli so it should be a fun day for us. Here's to a wonderful day in the sun!!!
