We are on our way to settling into our new schedule. I am such a creature of habit. I thrive on routine and I can see that the boys are taking after me. I am happy to say that we successfully got out of the house ON time today, without any arguments and the morning drop off went without a hitch. Oh what a morning. Now if only I had a “repeat” button to get us through the next 200 something days remaining.
It is surprising how much prodding it can take to learn any details pertaining to school. I must admit that of the stories I hear, I begin to wonder…. Aiden for example came home all excited on Monday, taking about his new friend Gus and how they built blocks together. As a nervous mother, this was music to my ears so I asked more. I then learned that Gus’s daddy drives a big wheel. A yellow one. And Gus is allowed to eat only cheese balls for lunch. Gus has quite the life! Tuesday morning as we arrived at school I suggested that we all keep our eyes open for Gus’s Daddy and his big yellow truck. Shouldn’t be hard to miss, right? Aiden quickly informed me that Gus’s daddy’s truck was far too fast for any of us to ever see. I had to laugh and look forward to meeting this special young man someday. Think he exists?
This morning as we waited in the car line up for morning drop off, Chris got all excited saying “Mommy, look at that big doggy in front of us.” Looking out the windshield, there was a small sedan with a mother in the drivers seat and a bouncing child in the back. I explained to Chris that it looked me to me like one of his school mates waiting with his Mommy. He replied “No Mommy, it’s a black lab.” I explained that not all kids are blondes and perhaps it was a child with dark hair. The conversation ended when a cutie with a “fro” stepped from the car parked ahead of us. They are a work in progress when it comes to learning about diversity!
The weather has been gorgeous and despite the colds that the boys both quickly developed after starting school, we cancelled our play date but headed to Northwest Park to soak up some sunshine. We were in our glory….
